Gym Myths in India — Busted

"Lifting weights makes women bulky."

Visible bulk needs a specific high-calorie bulking diet and years of heavy training. Regular strength training tones and strengthens.

"Ghee and desi khana ruin your gains."

Ghee in moderation is a healthy fat. Dal, sabzi, roti and curd form a perfectly good fitness diet — portion size matters more than the cuisine.

"Protein powder is a steroid."

Whey/soy protein powder is just concentrated food protein — not a hormone or steroid. It's optional, not compulsory.

"Skipping meals speeds up fat loss."

It usually leads to muscle loss, low energy in workouts, and binge eating later. Consistent meals work better.

"Rice is bad, only roti helps you lose fat."

Both are carbohydrates. Total daily calories and portion control decide fat loss, not rice vs roti.

"No pain, no gain — always train through joint pain."

Muscle fatigue is normal; sharp joint pain is a warning sign. Rest and consult your trainer before continuing.
